If you have never brined a turkey, but are curious about doing so, this recipe is a great place to start. You will be so pleased with the way it turns out, you'll never roast another turkey without brining it beforehand!BASIC TURKEY BRINE
Ingredients
- 2 gallons cold water
- 2 cups kosher salt or 1 1/2 cups table salt
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 cloves crushed garlic
- 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon dried sage
- 2 tablespoons cracked black peppercorns
Directions
Combine all ingredients in a large stockpot, stirring until salt and sugar are dissolved. Submerge turkey, cover and refrigerate. Let soak in brine for 12 hours before patting dry and roasting as desired.
