Browned butter and oatmeal crisp cookies

These rich, crispy cookies are a holiday favorite in the Plesa household. Surprise your family with a batch and they just may become favorites in your household, too!

BROWNED BUTTER AND OATMEAL CRISP COOKIES
Ingredients
  • 3/4 cup butter 
  • 1 3/4 cups quick-cooking rolled oats 
  • 3/4 cup sugar 
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour 
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 
  • 1/4 cup dark-color corn syrup 
  • 1/4 cup whipping cream 
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. While oven is warming, cook butter over medium heat in a small saucepan. Stir until melted and cook until it turns a light, golden brown. Remove from heat. In a large bowl, Stir together oats, sugar, flour and baking powder. In a small bowl, stir together butter, corn syrup and whipping cream. Add butter mixture to flour mixture and stir until completely combined. Drop dough onto prepared sheets, 3 inches apart. Bake 10 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the centers bubbly. Cool cookies on baking sheets. Once cooled, gently lift off foil.
